To create LexiCast episodes there are 3 processes:
Step 1) creating the podcasts in Notebook LM
Step 2) making appropriate edits in Canva
Step 3) Compiling Final Episode
Step 1: Notebook LM Creation
Open Notebook LM
1. Create a new notebook, and title it the name of the course you are creating a podcast for.
2. Upload the Course content document (provided by Sarah) for the course - can be found in Sample Podcast Folder
Note: you may need to convert the doc provided to pdf in order to upload to Notebook LM
- To do this simply download it
3. In the top right corner press the pencil icon next to 'Audio Overview'
You will be creating both a short and long podcast.
For the short podcast follow the following settings:
- Format: deep dive
- Length: Default
- Description: Make a podcast that is around 8-12 mins (don't go out of these time parameters). Make sure main points are discussed. This is meant to give the audience (lawyers) a glimpse into the topic and content. Make sure there is still a podcast like into and outro (eg. thanks for listening) and it is not cut short.
For the long podcast follow the following settings:
- Format: deep dive
- Length: Default
- Description: Make a podcast that is around 30-35 mins- don't go outside of these parameters. Make sure all content is covered adequately and equally. The audience is lawyers who are intending on learning more about the topic. Ensure there is a short intro and outro so it doesn't start or finish abruptly. Make the outro podcast like eg. 'thanks for listening.'
4. Wait for the podcast to generate (This will take a few minutes) and then do the following checks:
- is it an appropriate length
- Eg. Is the short episode between 8-12mins, and is the long episode between 30-35 mins
- Is the intro and outro appropriate - e.g. no cut offs or weird phrases
- skim through the audio to ensure it has touched on main points
- E.g. listen to a few seconds every minute, ensuring that what they are discussing aligns with the original pdf.
5. Once you have tested that the podcasts are up to standard, download the audio by pressing the three dots.
6. Save this to the episode folder within the Sample Podcast Folder
7. Update columns C and D in the Course Completion Sheet with the progress you have made
The next step is editing the audio in canva - Follow this solution!
